Luego, se desempeñó como investigador en el laboratorio del Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, uno de los institutos de A*STAR (Singapur).

Durante su doctorado, estudió las modificaciones metabólicas de las células hepáticas, y qué sucede cuando el hígado sufre algún daño.

‘Estoy muy entusiasmado con este nombramiento porque bajo la dirección de Akira-sensei podremos amalgamar mi conocimiento en metabolismo y hepatología, con su conocimiento en inmunología para desarrollar terapias innovadoras. Con esta perspectiva, podremos realizar hallazgos que permitan no solo mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas con enfermedades hepáticas, sino también prolongar su expectativa de vida. Por último, es muy interesante la interacción entre científicos de tanta trayectoria con los más jóvenes‘, expresó Caldez.

Caldez es licenciado en Genética por la Universidad de Misiones, Argentina y Doctor por la National University of Singapore (NUS, Singapore).
